When's Mahvel?

I know it's on all your minds, don't even try to tell me it isn't... it probably isn't though... *ahem* I am of course talking about Marvel vs Capcom Infinite, and the fact that it was announced 3 months ago and we have yet to hear any more information regarding the same, and I know Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 was just re-released and I loved that but I am ready to see more of infinite.So before I continue to endlessly ramble and fanboy let's get down to what we know so far;

What we know;

First, and arguably most importantly, the confirmed roster so far remains the initial 6 presented during the Play Station Experience/Capcom Cup which are Megaman, X, Ryu, and Morrigan on the Capcom side and Captain Marvel, Iron Man, and Captain America on the Marvel side.

As is immediately obvious and as I made mention to in my original post, the tag system will be a more intimate 2v2 a la Tatsunoko vs Capcom instead of the series' staple 3v3. This new change to the system was quoted to be "more elegant and simplified without losing it's complex and hardcore nature" by Marvel's Executive Producer, Mike Jones. (personally I am excited for this more fluid partnership between the characters, compared to requiring an assist to be viable.)

They are bringing back Marvel Superheroes Infinity Stone system!!! 2017 is the year of nostalgia mah readers!!

We are apparently getting an actual cinematic story mode, something that Marvel 3 promised but failed to deliver on, and seeing this prospect returning with more certainty from both Marvel and Capcom's sides, I am very excited at the possibility. I am a crossover nut, MvC being my all time fave.

There have been ramblings about where initially we thought that like UMvC3, the Marvel character pool would be created to be in part, marketing for their upcoming films, therefore we should have expected an influx of Avengers over X-men. However, recent rumors and news blogs seem to say that Marvel has creative freedom and is not tied to the MCU, if that is true, I am very excited to see the absurdity that could be the diverse character pool from both ends.

Last but not least, though not tied to this game directly, it is worthy to note, that Capcom will most likely use this game as a springboard to re-introduce ome of their older IPs and characters, so that they may reboot a lot of "dead"series, which an entirely seperate exciting possibility that I am all for!

But as excitingly vague as all that sounds, that's all we know "for sure", ignoring all the fake new year's leak mumbo jumbo... and that begs the question...

Is Mahvel going the Injustice route?

So if you follow fighting games at all, I am sure you have heard of a little known game called Injustice 2, basically Netherealms DC fighter that had a very popular first go around, and it's second installment looks to be doing things bigger and better. That said, the development of injustice 2 was very hush hush for many months after it's reveal, and now, in the last 2 months before its releasewe are getting almost weekly updates, trailers, and character reveals, so much so that the internet blows up about it every week. Now this is a good business tactic because it gets the hype on a continous level until release, HOWEVER, in the early months a lot of fans of the series felt sluggish, and concerned about all the silence. It's as they say, outta sight, outta mind.... It's a tough balancing act, no doubt.

Now, that begs the question, should MvCI go down this same marketing tactic? Should they hold off on any new updates or reveals until a few months before launch? Do you think they should sprinkle some early updates now to keep the game on people's radar and then do a big blowout of information at the end of the year? Maybe ignore character reveals and just release longer gameplay videos or a beta with just the 6 characters they have featured? I mean their twitter is dead too, there is silence on this game, and I personally need more haha. What do you think?

Perhaps, they just want us to play the re-release of UMvC3 and be quiet about MVCI until they are good and ready to show everything, so until they are, I guess all we can do is continue to ask "When's Mahvel Babeh?"

Maybe Capcom will manage to continue bringing back Shuma Gorath, for all I know Mahvel is the only reason he is still fresh in the community haha. Anyhow, are you all looking forward to Mahvel? Are you more patient than I am? Do you even like fighting games? Feel free to let me know your thoughts!

Much Love,

Wachi's Nonsense: It's MAHVEL BAYBEE!

IT'S MAHVEL BAYBEEE!!! Hey readers how've you been? Are you as hyped as I have been this past week? Yes? No? Mahvel?? I know, I know it's been a long while since I have posted anything but work has been insanely busy these past few months, only to have my computer's hard drive die on me (AGAIN!!) so I have been pretty distant from my computer aside from work, that is until this past week, when they announced MARVEL VS CAPCOM INFINITE, and I have been scouring the internet everyday for any small tid bit of new information that I can; you see readers, the Marvel vs Capcom series has been a huge favorite of mine since my early childhood days. As a kid I'd play MvC1 in the arcade machine at my local bowling alley, and as a pre-teen - teen I'd play MvC2 in the waiting room at my local laser tag establishment between rounds, only to later buy it on the Xbox Live Arcade after High school. Many years after that, on 2011 Marvel 3 came out and I bought and played the crap out of it, watching the EVO tournaments annually, Mahvel has always been hype; and now, 5 years later, we get this reboot to the series, Marvel vs Capcom Infinite and I can't calm down!!

Crazy hype aside, as with any new entry to a popular fighting game franchise what is the biggest topic that any and all fans need to speculate on ad nauseam? That's right, the roster! So that is what I wanted to do too, I wanted to just give my two cents on whom I'd ideally love to see in this new installment. Before that however, I would like to say I am not turned off by the series' return to the 2v2 format, don't get me wrong, I adore playing and watching the bombastic 3v3 assist fest that have been the previous 2 games, but I feel going back to 2v2 will lower the bar enough to encourage newcomers to this amazing series without risking the beloved combo creativity and onscreen zaniness that the games are known for; not to mention you can actually choose your 2 favorites of the cast because you want to, not necessarily because of their assist synergy. The lack of X-factor is pretty sad but honestly needed because that system was incredibly broken, not to mention that this call back to the old school infinity stone system from the classic Marvel Super Heroes fighter has got me pretty optimistic for the series' future.

So with all that jargon out of the way let's get to my character picks, I will pick 5 characters from each side, 10 in total, and my one rule is that they must be completely new to the series, in the sense that they have never been playable in previous games, and with that all said and done let's get this obligatory MAHVEL post going!

Capcom Side;

For the Capcom side I'd like to see more obscure characters mixing from older and more recent franchises, which is why my first pick is Regina from Dino Crisis;

Regina;

The codename of the female member of the Secret Operation Raid Team (S.O.R.T.), she is a weapons specialist and dinosaur destroyer! We honestly haven't seen much of Regina since Dino Crisis 2 and this character and series could definitely use some extra love especially since Capcom announced that is MvC Infinite does well they will be rebooting a lot of their older franchises and this is one I'd like to see come back strong. Despite always being brought down by her Female badass counterpart from Capcom's Resident Evil series, Jill, I feel she has enough up her arsenal to make an impressive showing in this new entry. Regina is strong willed and an amazing character I'd hate to see completely vanish from Capcom's library.

Asura;

The main protagonist of the one off action beat'em up game Asura's wrath. He is a demi-god similar to the angry Kratos, though much more merciful towards the innocent than his sony couterpart. He would be a wonderful quick powerhouse character, with interesting story potential for having him in this game. Plus his ability to create strong bonds despite his wrath would be great to see with this partner system. Plus his anger explodes whenever he sees or experiences wrong doing of any sort, so he could have a great boost/mechanic when his partner falls in battle. Overall I think I'd make an amazing fit in this fighter, I mean he fought Ryu from Street Fighter already, his initiation is complete lol.

Gene;

A courageous rambler and wielder of one of the Godhands (eventually both). His deep sense of justice and outspoken nature would match this game's universe personally, not to mention his one-liners could yield some fun results in pre and post battle remarks. Despite its cult classic status, on cannot deny that the combo heavy gameplay would transition beautifully into such a combo creative game like Marvel v Capcom Infinite. Plus giving him more exposure, I'm sure fans would be willing to give a sequel/remaster of his series a try.

Rikuo/ Aulbath;

Yes, yes, Morrigan is always going to be the main Darkstalkers rep, and I know that Felicia has usually been her popular second, but, I'd really like Rikuo in this next installment. His appendages turn into various freaking sea creatures and his caring nature could make him this universes more interesting Aquaman (Though Aquaman has gotten much better than his Super Friends apperance from back in the day), but seriously, I just think Rikuo is a better aquatic representation than what Namor could be. Plus Rikuo gets stronger in rain, so he could have a rain dance super to boost his speed and power for a short time.
Plus his ability to summon fishes and frogs and his sonar screeches would just be perfection. In all honesty I just want a lesser known Darkstalkers character and I thimk Rikuo would be the best option for that. Also I'd love to see him 3D rendered.

Edward Falcon;

My boy Edward Falcon, the main protagonist of the seemingly forgotten Power Stone series. A boxer hailing from the fictional town Londo he would make an exceptional balanced fighter who'd be able to transform into his power change android form for his specials filling the screen with missles (since Dr. Doom may be out being a FF character lol). His double and rocket jumps would also make him a character with fantastic air dash mobility, which would be great to see for diversities sake. And come on, they use infinity stones in this game and he is from a game called Power Stone, the story writes itself, let's get this franchise resurrected!!

Honorable Mentions: Monster Hunter/Felyne, Leon Kennedy, Someone from Breath of Fire, John Talbain, Sigma, and Proto Man.

Marvel Side;

So since Disney hates money, it is fair to say that X-Men and Fantastic 4 characters won't be in this, at least not initially, probably in a season 2 type deal they'll come back, but who knows I may be wrong. But because of this, I am keeping my list mainly in line with the MCU.

Moon Knight;

Perhaps not the most well known Marvel character, Moon Knight has been around since the 70s, and I'd love for him to get more love by making an appearance in this game, I mean just look at how much popularity rose for Task Master when he was revealed in 3. Moon Knight AKA Marc Spector, is a skilled combatant with a history of boxing and military training making him a proficient hand to hand figther and has an array of throwing weapons to boot. His super human abilities only increase with the moon's different cycles, so I think he'd make a fun character with an interesting backstory and design.

Scarlet Witch;

Wanda Maximoff AKA Scarlet Witch has recently had a huge jump in popularity with her representation in the MCU, and despite Disney and Marvel trying to erase her linage to the amazingly cool Magneto (whom I hope also makes a return) she has enough personality and power to shine on her own. I mean just imagine how much potential her hexes could have in a fighting game, setting up traps and combos with her hex bolts and hex spheres, throwing out mid range explosive hexes similar to Dormammu's pillars in Marvel 3. Not to mention in her current comics iteration she is now also able to use more advanced witchcraft which could allow for more creative combos and supers. And no, her inclusion in this list has nothing to do with the fact that she was played by Elizabeth Olsen whom I find very attractive <3 lol.

Vision;

Originally an alien in his comic debut, Vision later became re-imagined to be an android and member of the avengers, and since his apperance in the MCU, he's also quickly stolen the hearts of many fans and a certain Scarlett Witch (in the comics at least). Now in the comics Vision's attacks and strength are gathered by his solar jewel on his forehead, allowing him to discharge various types of beams and blasts as well as allowing him to become intangible or extraordinarily massive, he does the 2 latter abilities by manipulating his density, which is what also allows him to fly. However, this game being so heavily influenced by the MCU and Infinity Stones, I wonder how this will work out, would he have his original solar jewel or will he always posses an infinity stone throughout the game. Hmmm...

Black Panther;

Speaking of characters growing in popularity since their appearance in the MCU, T'Challa, the Black Panther is pretty much a shoe in at this point, but even so I thought I'd mention him on this list. The king of Wakanda himself is quick, nimble and a close range fighter, with some fearsome vibranium claws, he would be the perfect "replacement"/improvement to Wolverine, should he not be in this game, but don't get me wrong Panther wouldn't be a shoto of Wolvie, with his vast collection of magical artifacts and advanced technology he could become one of the most versatile brawlers in this game. I for one would love to see what they do with his moveset.

Green Goblin;

And for last, but certainly not least, I want to see the Green Goblin aka Norman Osborn, one of the most Iconic Spiderman villains ever, and basically Marvel's Joker. I have been wanting GG since they announced MvC3, and now with Spidey's re-introduction into the Cinematic universe I feel it's a safe bet to get some classic Spider Man villains in this game, let's be honest this series needs mroe playable villains, and who better than the Green Goblin? His athletic prowess coupled with his insanity would make for great movement and banter, and all his gadgets and bombs would create a very fun and diverse moveset. Also his Goblin Glider would be a great super, having him zip across the screen impaling his foes. Come on, get him in please.

Honorable Mentions: Falcon, Dare Devil, Spider-Gwen, Vulture, Groot, and Loki

Phew, and with that I conclude this wishlist of characters, thanks for being so patient and sticking with me throughout this long post readers, please tell me, are you excited for the new Marvel? Are you pringles up in here? #MAHVEL hahaha, if so I'd love to hear who you would like to see in this game, are you like me and want more obscure capcom characters and newer avengers, or do you want something else?

Thanks again for reading this all the way through everyone, now all aboard the hype train to 2017, it's Mahvel time again!!

Much Love,
Wachi
