Wachi's Rants: "Step in Inequality" and how one sees art.

Hey my readers (if any of you remain), I have another hot take that no one asked for and many will probably misconstrue for being a hateful opinion!(Though believe it or not it isn't meant to be.) This rants was inspired by the new She-Ra reboot and a piece of public street art created by the illustrious Japanese artist, Kazunori Shiina, adequatelly titled "Steps in Inequality".

Despite mentioning She-Ra first I don't have too much to say so let's first hop in to the steps of inequality stairs that have become semi viral online;
As you can see the piece is large, in your face, and the message should be quite self explanatory. The message I believe the artist was trying to convey was that Men have an automatic easy way to success whereas women need to climb higher in the same job. Now this is indeed a real issue, but also very cultural and industry dependent in a lot of times, however here' how I interpret the same. Yes, both genders have different routes to the top, but the way it is illustrated here, the women's path is the better choice. Let me explain, let's look at how the path's differ physically (not just talking about the colors baby), as you can see the man's path is narrow and only for one at a time, whereas the woman's staircase is broad and spacious which allows for flexibility in their growth. The man's path is on a set speed, implying that they compete to see who hops on the darn thing first so that they can be first in line for that juicy promotion, always on the move, always expected to continue growing at a decent pace. The women's path on the other hand differs in that they can go at their own pace, and still reach the same plateaus as the men, they can stay at a certain level should they feel comfortable not being pressured to move up as there is still space for others to rise, and if the women so choose to dedicate more time and effort, unlike the set speed of the escalator, they can run up to the top and achieve their goals, it's more tiresome, sure, but it's possible. That said, the way I viewed this piece I became envious of the woman's path, and more stressed to know the path a man must ride. Both are strong, and empowering paths, just as both can seem daunting, I feel in the end attitude and hard work will overcome gender stereotypes, even if it doesn't seem like it at the start.

Anyhow, that was my impression of the piece; What are you're thoughts readers?
--
My second to last topic is one that appears to be spamming my social media feeds as of late, and that is in regards to the She-Ra reboot that is apparently being made, behold;
Image result for she-ra reboot
Now,  I do not hate nor love the character so much for me to have any strong opinions on the reboot itself, however my irritation with it is the amount of people I see complaining about it online. To be more specific, people complaining about people complaining about the reboot. I see posts of people vilifying men for not loving this idea, or saying men are pervs as they only hate this due to the flat chested representation. Now, I can imagine there are some with those complaints as she is clearly not as sexy as the original design, however I doubt they are as explosively plentiful as the internet makes them out to be, at least through my personal experience I have seen more people defending this show than attacking it, which is why the constant defensive attitude is getting annoying. Listen, when you grab a beloved character, whomever they may be, you have one of 2 jobs. 1. Be true to the character that people know and love, expand on their existing traits to evolve them for future generations. 2. Don-t focus too much on silly things like "This is what REAL women look like!!" or "Big Boobs/Butt is not a real representation and exists solely for the male fantasy!!"; if you make a show, make it good and make it with respect, don't use a beloved character to virtue signal, as more often then not, you will get all the attacks you claim to be getting at this moment. Focus on making a good show, ignore the idiocy, please.

*Sigh* Anyhow, I know this is an odd take to come back with, and due to my life being so hectic I don't know if/when I'll upload again, but if you took the time to read this, I hope you are doing well and that you are having a beautiful day. Love what you love, and don't let people ruffle your feathers, we are all able to interpret art as we see fit.

Much love,

Wachi

Wachi Rants: I am done talking about Election

WARNING: This rant will be quick and probably full of grammatical errors, but it is late and I don't care.

Ok Readers...OK I'm tired, and this is literally the last time I will say anything about it. Trump was created by the very people who are showing the most hate right now, those people once fighting for love and tolerance are being more hateful and intolerant than Trump ever was, and not just friends from the states but people here in Costa Rica too, How the hell can looking for a silver lining in this situation be equated to telling all women, lgbt, blacks, and latinos that we hate them? How does that make sense? If Hillary had won and people were upset by it would you be appreciative of them telling you and your hopeful attitude, that you were a criminal sympathizer? No, of course not, Trump won, he made a pretty neutral victory speech where he seemed to call out for unity in a very mature way, and all I see are protests and desires for assassination attempts and just more division caused by the PEOPLE rather than the man himself. Throughout the entire dang election period people and the media have been force-feeding Clinton down our throats, and that YOU HAVE TO VOTE, MAKE THE CHANGE, CHOOSE YOUR CANDIDATE, and guess what people did but because it wasn't who YOU wanted you are breaking down everyone and everything like a hateful toddler with a tantrum. I thought it was a bit scary and uncertain that Trump won, but now I think that for a different reason, not because of him, but because of what the sore losers are doing and saying. People are literally destroying friendships because someone voted 3rd party, are you kidding me? The people screeching RACIST to anyone who didn't vote for Obama are now angrily spreading fear and hate because Trump is #NotMyPresident. Maybe this win was good and necessary as it gives us all a good chance to really look at ourselves and what we have become, we created this man with this attitude we hold, whether we want to admit it or not. I was hoping people would give it a rest after the polls came in but no, if anything people have gotten louder and not in a constructive way. If you can't be a good person because who you wanted to win didn't, then you probably weren't all that good a person to begin with. I'm mad right now, seeing all this hate, this real hate. Lastly, and I have to say this because it irks me to no end that it is being thrown around, Trump winning does not mean your future little girl can never be president, are you kidding me!? Hillary didn't lose because she was a woman, she was corrupt, a repetitious liar, had multiple FBI cases open during the campaign period, if she was a man people would also be turned off. Women in the west can be anything these days, and you know it, don't pretend for a second that this was some sexist attack, not every difference in opinion is a racist, sexist, or homophobic attack. People will keep talking about the election I get it, it's the hot topic, but if this is how you take a loss, I'm scared to see how much more divisive we would be with a win, under the guise of tolerance.... smh #AngryRantDone

*Exhales* I feel fine now, anyone want to go out for pizza?

Listen, in the end Trump, Clinton, or anyone for that matter can't dictate the kinds of things I want to accomplish and the good I aspire to do with those in my life and community. Perhaps people would rather be doomsayers and think of the worst, but I rather keep my head up high in this burdensome and stressful situation. This world is evil, that's not a secret to anyone, but that doesn't mean we have to bend to be evil too.

Much love,

Wachi

Wachi Rant's: BLM is domestic Terrorism (These Clowns!!)

*Deep Breath* Ok... Readers I am sure that this is a divisive topic, and I wouldn't blame you if you stopped reading anything I post after this, but I need to get this off my chest as it is something that has been expanding more and more each day and I can't keep quiet about it any longer, and that is my views on this ever expanding movement called Black Lives Matter or BLM.

Now what is BLM you may ask? It is an international movement created by the African American community to bring to light violence against blacks / Police brutality and any systemic racism. Now as any movement it was triggered into inception after a specific event, this being the shooting of Trayvon Martin. Now let me be real with you, Trayvon Martin did not deserve to die, and I am outraged that his life was lost, and George Zimmerman's acquittal of said crime is disgusting, BUT what happened with this? The media sprung into action and made it a white man vs black teen narrative; got to get those white devils am I right? But then we find out that Zimmerman is not white, but in fact Latino, and how do they fix their mistake? They make it about race. But there was never any evidence at all that Zimmerman's actions were driven by race, race was not the issue, but oh man did the media want it to be. Fun fact: Trayvon though not doing anything despicable at the time of his death did have a record of carrying marijuana and stealing jewelry from a neighbor's home. However Florida's justice system took leniency towards his crimes and simply had him suspended from school. If he had gone to a correctional facility he may still be alive today, just saying.

Anyhow, let's fast forward a year and we find ourselves in the Ferguson riots, this is where BLM finally became the famous domestic terrorist organization we know today (That's right, I said it!). This was born over the famous Michael Brown shooting, where the famous mantra "Hands up, don't shoot" was born. Now, here is where I have a problem with this, BLM loves to tell you Michael brown had his hands up, and then was shot in the back as he was running away, killed "execution style" by the racist police. Now the autopsy report doesn't show any bullet wounds entering from the back, and multiple witnesses claim that Michael Brown charged at the officer to steal his gun away, that is not hands up. But BLM shuts their ears at this fact because it doesn't help their racist police narrative. Are there racist police officers? Yes. Does police brutality need to be addressed? HELL YES! Is this the way to do it? Burning stores down and rioting like animals, making up lies? NO.

Now BLM doesn't end there, not at all, they continue rioting and speaking out because they aren't happy, after their famous hashtag hit the scene, #BlackLivesMatter, some people corrected them and began trending #AllLivesMatter, oh man, did that set them off. AllLivesMatter is low key racism folks, because even though all lives matter they want you to know that Black Lives Matter too, or in this case they are the center right now so shut up. Ignore the fact that more white teens have been shot by the police than black, police officers are racist white devils and they need to be eliminated. Now I hear someone shouting, "well what about Black on Black crime, the percentage of blacks killing each other in areas like Detroit and Chicago is the highest rate homicides in the entire USA?? What is BLM doing about those tragedies?" Well, my dear reader, don't you know that by just saying Black on Black crime, you are not stating a legitimate statistic but in fact proving that systematic racism is a thing, I mean come on.... Haha no, but seriously readers, BLM's blindness to the fact that statistically speaking, the people who are most racist towards blacks are other blacks is astonishing.

Black lives only matter to BLM when they are taken by a white man. Don't believe me? Where was their outcry when shootings in Ferguson killed 9 year old Jamala Bolden? There wasn't any, because she wasn't killed by a white man, it was an accident...

Let's look at a tragedy this year,  the Orlando gay bar shooting, does anyone remember what happened at the vigil on a college campus? Well I will tell you what happened, a BLM member stole the mic and said wonderful things like "How she was scared to talk because of all the white people." and how she "Wished that many people would attend her BLM protest meetings". Like what the hell?? This is a memorial, 50 people died, and all you care about is taking jabs at white people and pushing your agendas, BLM makes me sick. The way the blame ALL white people because their ancestors ALL owned slaves, let me tell you something, not ALL whites owned slaves, the ones that did were democrats, you know the current BLM party because "Trump is racist", not a Trump supporter btw, but he has never said anything explicitly racist, wanting to control illegals and possible terrorists threats isn't a racist statement, and if you read that and think he is saying, eliminate all Mexicans and Muslims, then maybe YOU are the racist one... *Ahem* where was I? Oh yes, not only that but some blacks and native Americans also owned slaves, so shouldn't we do some mandatory DNA tests so we can also  shun the correct black people hm? I mean if you want to get reaaaal technical and ridiculous, we could say Egyptians are the true slavers as they enslaved the Jews waaaay before America did it. But wait, Egypt is in Africa, and BLM are African-Americans, so that would mean many of the current BLM people could also have Slaver DNA, oh no no no forget I said anything, that was just my inherent racism as an Asian/Latino.

Still not convinced? What about when BLM rioted in Milwaukee when they hunted whites for simply being white, check out the link: Kill the White devils!

These people are twisted and the real racists, I will be honest, racism has never been completely eradicated in human history, but think back not 10 years ago, and remember that black and white relations where never this dire, we are regressing back to the civil rights times because of BLM creating this race war. They want whites to suffer, whites to pay, and whites cannot say anything because "The oppressor can never be the oppressed". I am astonished with the hate in this group and yet they keep asking to be treated with love. I don't know about you readers but I am scared that these scare tactics are working, BLM is the KKK for white people, only difference is, society loves them, and a lot of my white and light skin pigmented friends are pushing this agenda on FB daily, but I personally have zero black friends who support this noise and you know what happens to them? They get called Uncle Toms and ostracized for being "brain washed", are you kidding me, what is this cult like mentality. People with this white guilt and these BLM are a danger to our society, and if you think I am being a hateful racist for pointing it out, you are part of the problem in my opinion, no hate readers but this is a scary movement.

Need more? What about the Charlotte riots just last month, where BLM rioters were quoted saying "We cannot cohabitate with white people anymore." after another black man was shot and killed by the police, funny enough he was killed by a black man, but they just left that out and kept harping on it being racist. This is a regressive movement people, they want us back to the time of segregation, and they only ever attack white people. Look at Chinese markets/restaurants for example, they ONLY/or at least 99.9% of the time hire Chinese people, why aren't they called racist? Huh? They aren't giving blacks an equal employment opportunity isn't that bad? Maybe it's not the best example but think about it. BLM loves screeching that there is no such thing as reverse racism, and they are 100% correct, it's just called racism, and anyone can be targeted, yes even white people.

Don't even get me started on the Korryn Gaines videos, she got herself killed, being black had nothing to do with it, watch the videos yourself if you don't believe me, she brainwashed her child into hating the police and then used him as a human shield while she pointed a shotgun at police, and ya'll still think it was because police are racist. Society makes me sick, but BLM is not the medicine it needs, if anything it is just a symptom that is shows us it is only getting worse; don't believe me? Please, comment 1 thing that Black Lives Matter has done to improve black lives, just one.

These people are clowns, which reminds me, what is going on with those creepy killer clowns North America? Are we going to start seeing #ClownLivesMatter now? Lol it reminds me of that old episode of Dexter's Laboratory where he gets bitten by a clown and torments people at night only to be defeated by his sister who uses Mime powers. So maybe we need some good natured mimes in order to fend off these killer clowns... or would that be racist since mimes are white and clowns are people of color? LOLOL! Come on, that was golden..

In conclusion readers BLM is a violent, entitled group made up of middle class, "educated" black people and their posse of white/light pigmented followers with internalized guilt and "privilege". The sad truth is the people who are most holding black people back are black people themselves, and until they can see that it is not genetics, or racism, but their own cultural way of living that is keeping so many of them down, then we will never get any true growth or change, and if you think that is racist f me to say, well then, that's too bad and I wish you the best.

Much Love,
Wachi.

"Maturity" Today: The Pokemon.Go Trigger

Good evening Readers, hope you are all doing well this fine Friday, and that you are able to wind down however you all like with your favorite activities. Whether it be watching a movie, hanging with friends, gaming, reading a good book, or following the latest fad, in this case, becoming a Pokemon master!!!

So with that, I'd like to bring up tonight's topic, the sudden maturity that has risen from the latest trend to overtake the world; I of course am referring to Pokemon.Go. Now as with other popular fads, Pokemon.Go has established a huge active fan base of all ages, mainly of those of us in our late to mid 20's who experienced Pokemon from its beginnings, and has therefore over-taken the social spaces with pictures, posts, and memes. The sudden resurgence of  Pokemon with its original fans has just as quickly created a wave of "mature" folks who have apologetically taken to social media to attack and belittle those re-living their childhood with this app.

As this has occurred for a few weeks now, I have come to really think about what it means to be mature, what truly defines a mature person, and does allowing time for your inner child to come out and play completely invalidate your possibility to be a mature individual yourself? Well let's first take a look at what aren't factors of maturity...

1. Age: Contrary to what many tend to think, a person's age does not correlate to their level of maturity. Just as there can be a whiny 40 year old, who incites problems with others, or gives others petty punishments like silent treatments or name calling. There can be young people who forgive and forget, and act calmly and rationally when experiencing pressure. Never assume that just because someone is an adult they are automatically mature, just like you should never discredit someone's opinion simply because they are younger than you as that doesn't necessarily mean they are immature fools by default.

2. Social Status: Another misconception that I see tossed around is people's success or social status being used as a way to measure an individual's maturity. Now, there are many successful individuals who are indeed very mature and well-like in their respective fields because of it. However, there are many CEO's, managers, field specialists, etc whom just because they are good at their job, doesn't mean that they are good at life, so to speak.  Just because you are well off in a business sense doesn't mean you can handle things maturely; I myself have had a couple of bosses, who despite their numerous certifications, where very petty and obnoxious when put under pressure.

3. Education: This goes hand in hand with social status, just because someone has a Master's degree or a PhD doesn't necessarily mean that they are more mature than someone who only has a high school diploma. Higher education has never been the equivalent of mental maturity. I can use myself as an example for that, I was way more immature during middle school compared to some elementary school counterparts, just as when I went to High School I found many of my classmates to be more mature than college and university goers, even some I have met this day in age.

4. Appearance: This should be common sense, Like the age old saying goes, "never judge a book by its cover." Just as with social success and education being mistaken for maturity, physical appearance should never be used as a measure for how mature someone is or isn't. Someone in a clean suit and tie isn't guaranteed to be more mature than a man on the street in rags. They may carry themselves a certain way on the outside, that sadly doesn't always reflect how people are on the inside.
-----------------

So taking all that into account, look at how we are treating the player base of this new trend, as immature jerks, however, the same people calling out immaturity, are the same who take those weird snapchat dog-face selfies, or play mindless games like candy crush, feeling a sense of mature superiority, because it's something that was popular for KIDS. But I say to you, this is more than just a game, this is a social experience, where we go back to our childhoods, a stage in life where we always looked into tomorrow's next adventures, wide-eyed and loving it! So instead of nostalgically reminiscing about innocent days' past, they are reliving it in their current life whilst dealing with all their responsibilities. This app, has also helped many people get out of their homes and explore places outside of their routine as well as meet people with whom they may have never socialized with. To many this experience is more than just fun, it's become a source of therapy and exercise, becoming that small step into a brighter life! But the lack of compassion in this day makes people get this attitude of almost disgust at seeing others relive their childhoods in such a way. To think other's joy could cause someone so much internal turmoil that they chalk it up to be immature behavior, because to them, being mature means being a slave to your office and never having any fun, and to be perfectly honest, that's not so much maturity, as it is just sad.

Seriously, just this Monday, I was walking by the park by my house, and saw this magnificent scene;

<-- A typically semi-empty park, is now almost always filled with people sharing their Pokemon stories and catching tips. At one point in time is was dangerous to walk this park after 9-10pm, now everyone looks out for each other and keeps an eye out for rare Pokemon, and when they do they don't keep it to themselves, they announce it for all to hear and work together to get to the needed destination safely.

Any how, as I was saying before, earlier this week, after seeing the above scene I got home only to hear a rumbling of feet coming towards my house, the rumble soon was drowned out by a chant, a repetitive mantra perfuming the air, it was one word, "Dragonite!!" I knew then that one fo the rarest mons was close to my home, and I knew I had to burst out the door and join this Pokemon master mob to victory, after jogging for a kilometer with the mob, hatching an egg and getting a Machop to join my cause along the way, and that's when I saw him, DRAGONITE!!!

<-- I reaped the rewards of that last minute lastly hunt, and got an invaluable Pokemon for my collection. After everyone caught their dragon comrade, we all walked back to the well lit part of town together making sure everyone was back safe before I head back home. This type of interaction is not immaturity, it's a beautiful return to the simpler days of playing outside, and that is something I fully support.

Whether you like Pokemon or not, you  need to be able to see the wonderful effect that this is having on us as a people, excluding the idiots who walk into oncoming traffic or off the edge of a dock, as they ruin it for everyone.

Just like not all cops are racists, and not all Muslims are terrorists, not all Pokemon masters are immature dicks. Mature people don't generalize after-all haha. Just some food for thought.

In the end, this should have been a "Wachi Rant" seeing as it was pretty sloppy, but in the end I just wanted to say my peace. If you want to be the mature person, make peace not war, be open for communication, respect other's opinions, find joy in other people's happiness. (I mean so long as they aren't psycho killers whom are happy about having just spilled an innocent person's blood, that happiness you can be against, no judgment there), and last but not least, mature people do not judge others, people who judge are essentially playing God, and that air of arrogance or superiority should not be confused for being more or less mature.

As always, Much Love,
Wachi

Wachi's Rants: The Disappointing Death of Harambe

Ok, ok I know my readers, I can hear you, "ANOTHER RANT REALLY?" yes, but to be completely honest I almost didn't post this, as I know people will hate my thought process, but hey sometimes I need to vent to myself for therapeutic reasons. So with that out of the way you can feel free to go or stay as we rhyme in this introduction about the majestic Harambe.

So in case you have been living under a rock, as I occasionally do, then I'm sure you all know the sad tale and death of sweet gorilla Harambe, who was killed by his own zookeepers last week, due to a stupid child and his irresponsible parents.

<-- This here is a picture (courtesy of google) of this magnificent beast who was the victim of crappy parenting. Now as I am sure most of you have done, most individuals have become 2 teams, very reminiscent to the days of Twilight where social media was in utter uproar with the never calming storm that was #TeamEdward vs #TeamJacob, where we now have #TeamParents vs #TeamHarambe.

Myself personally, I was team Harambe from the second I saw the title in the original article, I adore animals and I am not ashamed to make others feel uncomfortable about the fact, heck one time I saw a little girl hitting a dog with a sandwich, the dog, naturally, bit at the food and consequentially cut the girl's hand. Unsurprisingly the idiot started crying and all the people ran over to console her AND scold the dog, and I was not having it, I was 14 at the time and I ran over then and scolded the girl and my mom and her parents gave me a group glare, but hell no, let me smack your daughter with some food and see how she reacts, I ain't playing!!! *Ahem* Where was I? Oh yes, Harambe and his cruel fate. I decided to properly investigate and research this before making an opinion on the matter, as you may imagine I can be quite cynical about these sorts of things and that lends the perception that I am a heartless jerk, I am not, but hey I won't tell you what to believe. What I will say however, is that I had a single thought in my mind when I began reading into this story, which was, "Please, pleaseeee don't let the parents be black." Can you guess what I discovered soon after the thought readers..? That's right, they were BLACK!!! And they allowed the death of a Gorilla, so much for #BlackLivesMatter am I right? Too soon? Sorry, but I don't think that group is the right way to get things done for Black people... but I mean come on, knowing they were black what if the kid thought the Gorilla was his uncle, hell he was unharmed, the gorilla probably thought the stork dropped him a son?? Hahaha, but seriously if the kid was Asian he'd have built a ladder and gotten out of there, and if he were White well then it'd have been a random cop that would have shot the Gorilla, am I right? What? Too offensive, well good, because that's how twisted society is, and if you are the type get immediately offended by jokes like these, then you are the true intolerable racist in society!!

I-- I am sorry readers I am a bit irate at society these days and Harambe was just the tip of the iceberg, aside from my possibly tasteless remarks above I am very upset that this is how we as people react to situation that slip out of our control, with immediate hostility. Huh? No, no I hear you, I shouldn't be so general, this is different, it's a wild animal, blah blah blah... To you I say that this is no different, look at any slight disagreement, especially in the USA these days and look at the over the top, at times threatening, outrage that comes of it. With Harambe they knew they couldn't stop him with mean tweets and racist/homophobic claims so the next best thing is to end him. That's our society these days, we react too hastily and too harshly to EVERYTHING, you don't need to agree with me, but I seriously invite you to take a look around.

In the end, let's look at how it all went down; there was a family at the zoo, the stupid kid was like "Yo, momma, I want to go swimmin' ya heard?" and then the mom was all like "Naw, Tyrone, you stay put, I got my hands full as is with yo cousins or whatever other kids are around that I can use as an excuse to take my entire attention off of you long enough for you to find a way into the Gorilla enclosure.", "Shiiiiii--" rebutted little Tyrone (or whatever the kid's name was)

Anyhow after the kid fell in Haramabe went over to him, completely chill, and that's when black mom and frenzied zoo goers start hollering and shouting like maniacs, which undoubtedly confuse and maybe even frighten Harambe, he knows something is up and that it may not be safe, so what does this majestic ape do? He not only retreats but he takes the boy with him, PROTECTING him. It's as if the zoo staff doesn't know diddly about Gorilla body language which is inexcusable as they work with these animals daily, enough to believe that he, an endangered species of gorilla needed to be killed because "tranquilizers just would take too long, ooohhh noooo...."

Seriously this all happened the day after Harambe turned 17, I recently also had a birthday, I would have hated to have been shot down the day after because a kid hoped my fence into my home. I'm just glad a vast majority of people feel similarly to myself and demand justice for the poor creature, let this be a lesson to parents as well, if you take kids ANYWHERE where they can get hurt or into places they shouldn't then keep an eye on them and don't overwhelm yourself with other distractions, there is no excuse for this, NONE. Lastly for those who say that it's the Zoo's fault because the fences/barriers are too short, easy to get passed or whatever, the freaking thing was founded in 1875, and there has never been a rise in children toppling into animal enclosures because of the fences, because most parents are attentive, and most kids have COMMON SENSE, which I know is all but dead, like Harambe. :(

Much love to you, you magnificent specimen, sorry we are such a crappy species.

*Sigh* Well that's all I wanted to get off my chest, I appreciate those who stuck through my incessant rambling until the end, I just feel like we need to take a step back and realize how precious ALL life is, something that we only seem to be doing selectively these days.

Much Love,

Wachi

Wachi's Rants: Let the Preggos Drink!

So it's Friday and I have a bunch of work to finish up, but as I enjoy my lunch break my eyes trip over and stumble into this headline that I saw this morning. The headline simply read, "Bartenders banned from denying pregnant women alcohol in NYC" and of course I had to click on in and make sure it wasn't a real thing, but instead some poorly written joke article of some sort.... it wasn't... unfortunately. Now, now, I can see you worrying about me making so many rants as of late, since my blog was initially for silliness, art, and positive thoughts to a degree, and it still is for the most part, but things like this, as the sub-header mentions, I simply cannot stay quiet about.

First and foremost, I shouldn't be so surprised that this is a law, I mean with abortion being more widely accepted, and therefore legalizing the murder of our unborn babies in hospitals, who's to say that it's morally wrong to kill them slowly in bars right? UGH... I mean, correct me if I am wrong bartenders, but it is my understanding that bartenders normally require an RSA (responsible service of alcohol) certificate in order to be bartenders, key word being "responsible"; that said, it doesn't seem to be very responsible to lawfully force these employees to assist in potentially harming the life of an unborn child. Now don't misunderstand me, I couldn't care if someone wishes to drown their entire existence in alcohol, well I would technically pity them but it's their life to do with as they please, that is not the case here however, here, you are affecting the life of an unborn child, and that is not cool.

As I continued to read the article I noticed it only continued to infuriate me, with quotes like the following; "The guidelines, released Friday by the city’s Commission on Human Rights, state that 'using safety as a pretext for discrimination or as a way to reinforce traditional gender norms or stereotypes is unlawful.'" WOW, so we are calling this discrimination now? Not irresponsible from the mother's part to be subjecting her unborn child to fetal alcohol syndrome?? Huh, what is this syndrome you ask? Well I'll tell you, this is an EASILY PREVENTABLE condition that plagues the unborn child with eventual mental and physical defects that they will have to live with for their entire lives! I looked up examples of what some of these symptoms may include and found several possibilities, by drinking alcohol whilst pregnant, your child could be born with dangerously low birth weight, have a small head circumference, they may experience development delays, organ dysfunction, facial abnormalities, epilepsy, poor social skills due to lack of imagination and curiosity which by the way could also cause learning difficulties, and all these things will undoubtedly cause them frustration and eventual behavioral problems. So in order to be a selfish and ignorant "independent un-oppressed woman" and drink whenever you like, you are opening the door to ruining the ENTIRE LIFE of another human being. (I invite you to google search FAS symptoms for more.)

Now here's the kicker, I am the type of person who doesn't really like kids, yet even I don't wish harm on them (unless they are incessantly whiny then I want them to fall down the stairs or something... WHAT? Kids are durable, and I mean carpeted ones, not those metal factory stairs of death, chill) so this isn't me letting my utter love for children cloud my judgment, if anything I am angry about how lacking in compassion society continues to be, and we are growing in our selfish nature every day, this is proof of that.

You know what else, I bet that as soon as a mom injures herself or her unborn child due to intoxication, or if their child is born with fetal alcohol syndrome that she will have full right to sue the bar/bartender who gave her alcohol while pregnant since he should have done so RESPONSIBLY. Because in the end, according to society, the poor mother is the victim since she was being discriminated.... Ok I'm done, I just can't anymore, good job feminism, fetal alcohol syndrome for all!!

Here is the article for those who wish to look into it: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation-now/2016/05/10/bartenders-must-serve-pregnant-women-alcohol-bars-new-york-city/84182372/

Wachi's Rants: Overwatch and Battleborn Stahp the Comparisons

Heyooo readers, grab your guns and come help me sort this out because honestly I'm tired of seeing it flooding my interwebs. Huh? You don't know what I'm talking about? You don't like shooters? Well I'm not very good at them myself but enjoy the occasional romp online, the point is recently I have gotten into a game called Battleborn, and despite having great difficulty with it at first, I am slowly becoming better at it which is quite nice. Now for those of you who don't know, Battleborn is a mixed genre co-op FPS (First Person Shooter) and MOBA (Multiplayer online battle arena) which was birthed by Gearbox, the studio who brought us the frantic hilarity that is the Borderlands franchise. Now, the day it was released May 3rd, was also the day that Blizzard released their hero shooter, Overwatch's BETA.

Now you may shrug to yourself and say "Well ok, cool, 2 games with unique, personality-filled heroes on the same day, quite glorious no?" Well yes, but people don't take it like that, let's be honest, barely anyone ever can, human mentality is always my team versus yours these days, why do you think the US only ever allows for 2 political parties to take up all the media space, it's simpler for them to just have red vs blue... umm I'm getting side-tracked, the point is now these games have unavoidably been pitted against each other, you are now either team Overwatch or Team Battleborn, and you can't talk about one online without it being somehow compared to the other in the comments to follow.

Again, this is not to say that everyone is like this, but a majority of people are and it gets rather tiresome when I want to look up some BB content only to see a slew of Overwatch comparison videos in my search... That is irritating, it almost seems as though people don't wish to try this game for fear that they will somehow be barred from playing Overwatch as well, and believe me, I am not bashing Overwatch, in fact, I am quite fond of Blizzard and cannot wait to play it myself (I mean they still haven't gotten me off the Hearthstone hype train, so Overwatch is just something more from them that I can't wait to dive into.) That said from what I have seen, there is no reason for these two games to be competing against each other and otherwise splitting fanbases into rivals. One is a FPS MOBA and the other is a traditional FPS, but more in line with the Team Fortress model, which is great since Valve has an issue with making 3rd installments into games.

Both have something interesting to offer and both have things I dislike, however both are very different, seriously, at the risk of sounding like a broken record, aside from the characters being unique heroes and them both being in FPS format, what else do these games have in common? Go on, I'll wait..............................................huh? Oh, you haven't said anything yet, ok I'll wait................................................................................................. ok I'm tired of waiting, I do chuckle at the thought of someone yelling at their screens like if this were an episode of "Dora the Explorer" and I'd somehow react when you did. :D As for those who didn't say anything, then you understood my point, gameplay-wise, these are 2 very different experiences. For one in Battleborn you have a single player campaign, split screen co-op (which is a huuuuuuuge plus as far as I am concerned), and objective based competitive multiplayer; whereas in Overwatch you get a much shallower experience, which is not a bad thing per-say, simply stating that it's a game in which you just hop in and kill the enemy with colorful unique heroes (still a good time as far as I am concerned).

In Battleborn's gameplay you have leveling, shards, buildables, gear, and you are stuck with the hero you choose for the entirity of the 15-30 minute match, that's right, 15-30 minutes, Battleborn's competitive MOBA style game has you undergoing long, strategic battles over Overwatch's hop in and play modes. Now don't get me wrong, Overwatch's simplicity is a plus as it's great for a few rounds of pushing a car and killing, and all you need to worry about "collecting" are health packs when you are in need, the straight-forward nature is addicting and appealing, and I can definitely understand that. Quite similar to the old school Battlefield vs COD debates, where Battlefield was a grander scale to COD's jump in "arcadey" shooter style. Additionally, both games offer loot systems at the end of matches, while Battleborn's loot system is towards gear for future rounds, Overwatch's seems to be more cosmetic in nature with character skins and the like. Overwatch is also more like a regular FPS in the since that the time to kill is quick and to the point, for example, head shots are one-shot kills the vast majority of the time; whereas in Battleborn, players are much slower to kill, and deaths can be brutal in the late game due to the longer waits for respawns, again making it the deeper of the 2.

All in all, I would like to end this by re-iterating that again, just because they are both shooters with distinct playable characters all with their own unique skills and weapons, doesn't mean they are the exact same game, nor does it mean that you must ally yourself with a certain camp and not play the other. Enjoy them both, as for the time being, neither are stepping into micro transaction territory, that is a welcome note; though Blizzard has been sketchy when answering fans about future business models for the game, so keep your eyes peeled and your wallets close. In the end, I feel I repeated myself a bit too much, much like many who have done this comparison before me, and will undoubtedly continue to make after the fact when Overwatch officially launches later this Spring.

With that I leave you to enjoy whatever you choose to play, be it Battleborn, Overwatch, or the new Pokemon Sun and Moon coming out in November #TeamRowlet

Wachi's Rants: OIJ and Cellphones

Good day readers, I hope you are all doing well, and that life is good! Today, I'd like to introduce a brand new segment to my Blog, simply titled "Wachi's Rants" and as the title may allude to it is a simple rant section. Why? Because despite priding myself on the positive things in life, sometimes, like most, I need to point out something I think is stupid, in sometimes a stupider fashion to make my own point. Now I realize rants are a double edged sword as my opinion could either garner support or make me look like a psycho, but to be honest, I am willing to take that chance. *Tee hee* ♥

So ok, so this rant is about the law enforcement here in Costa Rica, otherwise known as "OIJ" or "Organismo de Investigación Judicial" which translates to the "Judicial Investigation Department"; Now, I have always found law enforcement in this country to always be lacking and or a bit ridiculous in some matters, but my rant is about their way of handling simple tasks, and how they justify their dealings of such.

Now I want to preface this with the fact that I am usually a patient person, and that part of this rant's frustration stems from my cousin's own stupidity which led us to my impatience with the OIJ. You see, back in mid December my cousin's phone was pick-pocketed at the park by a peculiar pedestrian (try saying that 17 times fast), any how he and his at the time girlfriend, Judith, came running to my house as I live right by it asking for immediate assistance, we went to the service provider who refused to track the phone without a signed police referral. So we went all the way to the opposite side of town to the police station, waited for over an hour, my cousin explained the situation and the police refused to help since he didn't have the original receipt or box as he had purchased the phone overseas. Normally, though unfortunate, I can understand the cop's view point since he had no way of proving we were the original phone's owners or if there was even a phone to begin with, but the way he explained it is what irritated me. You see the officer went on to say, like the receipt or original box, we need some sort of documentation to prove the purchase of the phone otherwise it's just all bologna to him, he went on to say, documentation is the proof for any and all things, if a crime occurs and the victim has no documentation to assist in proving that he was wronged, more often than not, the case won't be taken, no exceptions. To this I found myself, documentation is like a shield, but if there are no exceptions, and crimes aren't crimes without the proper info, what is stopping me from shooting people to death simply because they aren't able to present me with their birth certificate??? HUH??? Think about it, documents rule all, no documents, mean whatever it is isn't what is being claimed, so without a birth certificate, you were never born, you are only believed to be alive, but without any real proof is it actually murder?? Yeah, deep stuff I know.

However, I ignored this "twistable" explanation and we left, my cousin noticeably depressed. A few weeks passed and my phone planned had expired, when I went to renew it, I was given a chance to completely upgrade my phone model for $199.99, I took the deal and gave my Samsung Galaxy S5 to my cousin so that he could have a phone again, he was so thrilled, it was quite nice. Now let's fast forward to this Tuesday, March 1st, 2016... we had to go to our local house of culture (which is a small establishment with various cultural activities and arts) for our theater classes, well despite my warnings for him to get changed before class he didn't until after we arrived, and he accidentally left his phone in the bathroom, he realized 30 min later ran back and it was gone, he became much more distraught than the last time. So after class, we went back to my house, as I did keep the original box and manual. We went to the police station, made our claim, and the police chief promised he'd attend to our phone dilemma; he then disappeared for an hour only to return with Chinese Take-out, loving the urgency... Anyways, after they finished stuffing their face, we had to wait until 3 officers helped another guy, because one is incapable of taking info by himself it seems. Well, long story short, the cop saw we had all the documentation and told us with his chief's signature we could go to the phone company to track it no problem! Great right!? WRONG!! Because this cop wasn't going to get it signed, he said this was my cousin's fault for leaving it unattended, and theft caused by the owner's carelessness will not be handled by the police. Now, I work for customer service, we too are told that carelessness on the customer's part voids warranties, and it's really a "too bad so sad" type situation. However here we have someone who stole a phone, carelessness or not there is a thief in our midst, and all we need is a signature to find him, but no, no way. The chief cannot be bothered to sign something where carelessness was the prime factor... The officer then tried to cheer us up by telling us it's the norm. That if someone had reached in under the stall whilst he was pooping and stolen it, then they would have signed it, just not like this, and that this isn't just for phones but anything of value, he mentioned that earlier that week a woman parked her car at a McDonald's to use the bathroom but left her keys, so she got no help, since it was her own damn fault, isn't life grand? With that logic, if a mother walks into a shoe store to check out a wicked good sale, and leaves her daughter unattended I have every right to kidnap her, since it isn't a crime, the mother was being careless, not my fault, it's hers, is that right???

So using the OIJ's logic I should be able to murder and kidnap people without being penalized because of lacking documents and carelessness, wow, don't I feel safe and secure, geeze... So the officer wouldn't budge and told my cousin to be more careful with his stuff, and obviously my cousin became incredibly upset, since when he found an Iphone on the floor in class he returned it to the office, and now thanks to the police he no longer sees values in doing good deeds... Atta boy law enforcement, helping inculcate those good values over your unwillingness to budge in fairness!

Now, this may seem overboard nit picking to a lot of folks, and that's ok, and others may feel my analogies are way out of line, which is fine too, the point is, I find it so difficult to believe they would take such pride in denying a simple signature to help out a person who came to their aid, that and the incredible wait times they had us undergo just to tell us "sorry, nothing we can do." seriously why ask us what happened at the door and make us wait if you know this is something you cannot help with??? UGH!!

All in all, I feel the interaction of our law enforcement as well as their soft skills could use some work, they had a calm and collected tone the whole time through mind you, never did they sound, pitch wise, annoying or upsetting, but maybe that's what made what they were saying sound extra annoying... Just remember kids, always keep your phone and other valuable belongings on you or in a safe place of yours, and if you lose it, lie and say it was stolen, but make sure you still have documentation on it, otherwise no help for you, you silly ducks. So respect the law and those in authority, but also demand enough respect for you and your time as well so that this doesn't happen to you also! Thanks to all of you who made it this far and for tolerating this rant, I appreciate any and all my readers who take the time to read anything I vomit out of my keyboard, it means a lot.♥

Much Love,
Wachi
